🖌️ About the Exhibition

As stewards of the Kephart Collection, it is our pleasure at TAC to continue to have the opportunity to exhibit the paintings, pastels, and mixed media works of such a talented and respected artist from our community.

Since the architecture and design of the Gallery was imagined as a home for Kephart works, the Gallery is at its most beautiful when filled with his creations.

In Kephart’s time at Mesa State College, he explored experimental compositions, but it was his proclivity for representation that led him to a deep appreciation for landscapes. While he is most known for his abstract compositions, it wasn’t until the 1990s that he became serious about nonrepresentation in his work.

This exhibition will showcase the representational and nonrepresentational works of Jac Kephart. He was a multifaceted artist working in a variety of mediums and styles; there is a through line that can be seen in his entire body of work — one that unifies his style as a complete artist.
