Funding the Teen and Young Adult

The Art Center bookstore has been a huge
asset. The center has given out 9 class
scholarships and an intern stipend
through this program for young adults
and teens. Most recently a young
teacher from Gateway was granted a
scholarship to attend a hand building
with Nina Williams on Monday evenings.
Brett White hopes to learn about clay
and firing so that he can build a
ceramics program at Gateway School.
This scholarship in particular will not
only build this instructors range of
personal teaching skills, but effect a
whole community of children.
The bookstore is now running low on
inventory, we would so appreciate
artists and art lovers to revisit their
collections and see what books and
materials would be
better used by others and help fund an
amazing program like the “Young Adult
Teen Intern and Scholarship Program.
This bookstore provides books and
supplies to
artists at an affordable cost and raises
funds for young deserving upstarts in
our community.. We are very happy to be
a vehicle to give a second life to such
wonderful books and materials.
Because of this well received enterprise
The Art Center will continue to sell and
receive used supplies in the little class
room off the Atrium Gallery, we have
installed four shelving units and
display a vast assortment of books for
our members, students and visitors to
look through.
Books are bridges from generation to
generation. This recycling of knowledge
and bringing in new approaches from the
areas youth is part of the mission of a
living center for the arts. We hope
that artists and patrons will continue
to feed the inventory of books and add
to their own libraries. To drop off
books call or stop by and see Carolyn or
Max at our front desk. All donations
are appreciated and tax deductible.
We would also like to acknowledge the
ceramics department at The Art Center
for it’s funding of teens through their
annual pottery sale and Interiors Ect.
for the framing of eighteen year old
Matzle Perez’s work in “Permanent
Collection: plus Four”.
