1:00pm Film - Paul Soldner: Playing with
Fire (43 minutes)
This film chronicles the influence of Zen
Buddhism and Abstract Expressionism into the
world of contemporary clay. This philosophy
of art making is relevant to both sculptors
and painters. Physical, intuitive,
immediate and expressive as well as
attitudes of what constitutes beauty
permeate this film and chronicles one of the
biggest influences on contemporary clay by "
The Father of American Raku."
Remember painters and
photographers--art is not just about the
medium you use. It is about vision, and this
film is a must see for all artists involved
in the creative process.

1:00pm Film
- Portrait/Self Portrait: Conquest of The
Human Figure (27 minutes)
The Art Center has begun a
concentrated effort to bring a figurative
program to all levels of artists in the
valley. On Mondays in the Fall, Winter, and
Spring we have both open studio and
instructed figure drawing/painting offered
from 9am to 9pm. Some people draw the whole
figure, and others concentrate on the
features specific to catching the essence of
the individual. This film is an overview to
the tradition of portraiture from Durer,
Matisse, and Cezanne to contemporary
portraiture. Please come and be entertained
and inspired by all the great artists that
have tackled the genre of trying to capture
the essence of personality, culture,
psychology and social class that is what
makes portraiture a unique endeavor in the
art world.
Second Satrudays are free for members.
Suggestion donation for non-members is $3.
