Poetry and Art of Curley Dunnagan (1925 – 2009)
Saturday,
September 11, 2010
2 pm – 4 pm
Well known
in the community for his cowboy poetry and works
of art, Curley Dunnagan is a name that, when
mentioned, prompts people to recall his poems,
love of music, the arts and his unique
personality. Even though Curley has since
passed, he is still spoken of by friends and
family almost as if he were still here. There
are fond memories and laughter when he is
mentioned. This Second Saturday event will
include the reading of his poetry and short
stories by his children and poets in the
community as well as a display of his paintings
and sculptures.

The Art Center will feature a Second Saturday

Abstract Art Movement, Gallery
Tour & Discussion
At this event we
will explore the markers of the abstract art
movement through a film of the life and work of
Wassily Kandinsky who is noted often as the
artist that started the abstract movement in
1910 with his non-figurative work. We will then
tour The Art Center’s exhibit “What? What?” a
display of abstract work from the permanent
collection and have a discussion.
Second Saturdays
spotlight artists, artistic disciplines and
movements throughout history as well as the
literary arts.
This event
is sponsored by Gerson Investment Management and
is free and open to the public.
